The State Tourism Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (STA), Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB), and Reserves Management Centre (RMC) held a workshop to prepare a Sustainable Tourism Strategy for Basgal settlement, bringing together local government agencies and rural communities to help shape the process.
The workshop was held on April 21, 2026, at Basgal Resort & Spa. It opened with a presentation outlining the strategy’s main goals, directions, and next steps, along with Basgal’s tourism potential and key development opportunities.
Participants, including local residents and government representatives, discussed tourism product development, infrastructure and transport challenges, community participation and benefits, women’s and youth’s involvement in tourism, environmental protection, and cultural heritage preservation.
The workshop concluded with agreement on the main directions for the strategy’s action plan, and the proposals of local villagers were recorded.
